A Yellowstone Wedding Warmed By the Union Pacific Fireplace

Kara + Cody

October 4 | West Yellowstone, Montana

Kara's and Cody's first dance

I finished off my 2014 season on October 4 with Kara's and Cody's beautiful Yellowstone wedding at the Union Pacific Dining Lodge.

I know. Beautiful may be the most overused adjective in the wedding industry. Nevertheless, I know no other way to describe their Montana Destination wedding in West Yellowstone. It began with lodgepole pines and the soft, golden light of a fall morning surrounding me as I photographed Kara and Cody giggling their way through formals.

When the ceremony began, my enchantment with this couple, who seemed so in tune with one another that they were oblivious to my camera, grew. Kara, a music teacher, planned a ceremony featuring live music from start to finish. One of her students played the flute while ushers seated guests. String instruments echoed throughout the massive hall as Kara walked down the aisle. In the middle of the ceremony, the wedding party turned into a mini-choir. And the backdrop for the production included cathedral ceilings, wood beams, and a gigantic stone fireplace that doubled as an altar.

Kara and Cody kicked off the reception with a barbeque feast featuring roasted pig. The party continued when the band Kennedy and the Assassins took the stage, and guests of all ages danced the night away.

Happy one year anniversary, Kara and Cody!
