Two Become Family at Red Lodge's Montana Wildflower Weddings

Jillian + Tate

June 25 | Red Lodge, Montana

Jillian and Tate first met at Dawson County High School in Glendive, MT. However, their first real conversation didn't happen until they both found themselves at the same social gathering in 2010, four years after Jillian's graduation.

Despite his friends' belief that he had no chance with Jillian, Tate couldn't resist pursuing her. However, he had to be patient. Regular conversations didn’t happen until January of 2013; in September of that year, they finally started dating.

Tate's insistence paid off. By April of 2014, Jillian's feelings caught up with Tate's, and one year later, he proposed. On June 25, 2016, the two exchanged vows on a perfect, summer day at Montana Wildflower Gardens just outside of Red Lodge.

I'll be the first to admit that I'm a sap. I think every story of two people meeting their best friend is beautiful. But Jillian and Tate's story is extra special as it's also Kellen's and Ellie’s story.

When Tate first chose to love Jillian, he also chose to love her then ten-month old son, Kellen, and Tate’s been his daddy since. And several weeks before the big day, Jillian and Tate welcomed their daughter Ellie into their lives.

Usually, I’m not a favorites kind of gal, but I do have one favorite moment from their day. Actually, make that three. The first happened before the ceremony when I watched Tate hold his baby girl in his arms. Then a few minutes later, Tate got me again when he asked Kellen for permission to marry Jillian, promising to always be his daddy. The icing occurred when the four danced together as a family.

Jillian and Tate, to witness not just two becoming one, but a family, was incredible. Best wishes and love to you, Kellen, and Ellie.
